The idea for Dandelion Dead: A Natural Remedies Mystery came from the fact that the area I live in -- the North Fork of Long Island, NY -- has lots of award-winning wineries. The wine is excellent and we often have tourists come to the area for tastings. I highly recommend it!

Read, read, read books in your favorite genre whether it be cozy mysteries like mine or thrillers or historical fiction etc. Writers must be readers. Get a subscription to Writer's Digest and really learn from it. Form a writer's group. Go to conferences. Believe you can do it!

I don't really ever get writer's block but I am a master at procrastination! For me entering into the writing process is always somewhat painful and always scary because it is breaking through my own inertia. But once I summon up my courage and begin, I go! following the characters on their adventures. Really, sometimes if feels like transcribing and I can barely keep up! So my advice is be brave and begin!
