What a great question! I think that's why a lot of writers write, to answer questions and mysteries in their own lives. For me, I have several. One I'd like to solve is how to find 2 of my ancestor's birth, marriage, and death documents. They should somehow exist, but no one has found them. Then, I'd like to prove or disprove who they really were. Generations later, it's really hard to do even for a professional genealogist if the documents haven't been found. Another mystery I'd like to solve is what happened to a 4X great uncle. Why did he die? And why can't I find the mother of his child? I really want to dig into that story. I think some of the information is there just waiting to be found.

I love brainstorming with friends, family, and other authors. Once I get excited about the ideas, the rest comes more easily. I think when you focus on anything you want to do, talk about it, dream about it—then those ideas and plans become more tangible. So talk, dream, and focus on what you want to achieve. You'll get there with less "blocking" because you'll be driven naturally toward that goal whether it's writing or some other pursuit.

I'm doing a lot of non-fiction reading Summer 2020 for research, school, and business. Everywhere Present by Stephen Freeman (theological reading), That's Not the Way it Works by Bob Saenz (more screenwriting learning), Killing Jesus by Bill O'Reilly (historical and theological), and a few stories I'm reading for endorsement. The rest is college reading to finish my English specialty in Genealogical Studies.

I'd have a hard time choosing one! I think I'd become a travel writer for fictional worlds. I'd love to visit the historical worlds I write in to see how close I've come with my research and meet the real people that intermingle with my fictional characters. I'd also love to visit any Scottish, Swedish, and American historical eras for fascination sake. On the fanciful side, could I please be a mermaid?? Oh that would be such a fun fictional world to visit!

I don't. But I can try contacting the powers that be here on Goodreads. The gal who did narrate it has since married. Possibly they'll recognize her new last name? We can try again. But since I wasn't the one who did that action, I don't know what will solve it. Frustrating for both of us. Elizabeth Diane Wells is the narrator.

HI! I didn't want to quit either. It was so much fun :) I have to tell you how much your support lifts me up and makes me want to keep writing. I really appreciate your kind words! The more books I write, the more I realize I like having pets and children in the stories somehow. It adds a lot of natural warmth and a bunch of humor. Then I look at my life and realize where the kids and pets originate, lol. Thank you so much for connecting here too!

This is so odd, but I tend to write a little comedy sketch between Writer & #Muse on Facebook (now thinking about taking it to my website first). My brain just starts opening up to the process of storytelling and dialogue. Sometimes I intentionally roll a problem spot or character over in my mind before going to sleep. I wake up with the solution.

The most recent published book is Snowflake Tiara. That idea came from the first beauty pageant recorded in the US, then the what if questions started... But surprise characters popped up along the way and a little kitten entered the story. I did not see Jesus Kitty coming! So did not see a cat in the story until it showed up on the page. But he stole my heart when the little orphan girl, Lea, latched on to the barn cat and wouldn't let go...

I'm working on Eleven Pipers Piping. It's frustrating that I had to delay this one but family matters took priority when my dad passed away. Then I've also just written the first scene of Bridal Whispers for Barbour Publishing. It's due May 1st. I wanted to get a start on it so it would be early rather than at deadline.

Aspiring writers need to join the groups that support and educate in the genres they want to write and publish. Sometimes that means crossing over into other groups. But these writing organizations are crucial to both networking and education in order to be successful in the industry, whatever the branch of the writing industry you gravitate toward.

Being a writer can't be defined by one "best" thing. I love the flexibility, but it's the stories in my imagination that need to be told. As a job, being a writer provides constant variety and problem solving. Thought it's a solo career, there are so many people involved in building this career that there's always a friend close at hand. I love simply being me in my job, translating my thoughts and experiences into stories and characters.
