Taylor Larsen Hi Jan! Max is six. I think there is one part where there is an age discrepancy issue--we caught it and fixed it for the paperback release. Is that what confused you? Thanks for reading!
Taylor Larsen I would say that if you have writer's block in general, not related to a particular piece, and are having trouble starting something new, I would suggest reading writers you deeply admire to begin generating ideas in your subconscious mind. And writing exercises can't hurt if you're starting from scratch and worried about what to start.

If you're stuck on something you've already begun working on, I would suggest rereading what you have written and ask questions aloud about the character. Wait for the subconscious mind to begin providing solutions for your conscious mind to write down and read great published work by writers you admire who are similar to you in style and mood.

If you are really stuck, I would ask yourself if the project still captivates you. I ultimately abandoned a project I was working on because in the end I was writing more from my head than my gut. I wasn't pulled towards it, so it wasn't landing. I have to be pulled to the story and character to want to keep going; it needs to be not be simply a conceptual interest, but more of feeling the character is real and wanting to really get to know him/her and find out what happens to that person.
