Inspiration comes in many forms and I find it everywhere--in the eyes of a refugee in line at a medical clinic, in the first laugh of a baby, in the translucent skin of an old woman. I always carry a notebook ready to capture the next image in words.

Literally - from a dream, at least the opening scenes came to me that way, and the book followed. It was both as simple and complex as that.
