Hi Netanella! Sorry it's been a while. I've been in writing purgatory. Had a bit of work to do on myself as a writer. I'm working on the follow up to Safe Place. You can expect to see a new book in Fall 2021. I started a different series (Biggs & Myer) and am in the middle of writing book three of four.

Writing keeps me from legally going crazy.
I have a very active imagination. I've been that way since I was a little girl. I've been fortunate enough to gain the ability to paint my stories on the page.
Writing is cool.
I can tackle moral dilemmas in a creative way through world building, taking off societal masks and letting people be and a story takes shape.
Writing is peace.
After a crazy day of running in the rat race, I find peace in sitting down and letting my imagination lead. When I write, I don't care about rules, ignore grammar, and all the things that tend to stifle me. When I write, I'm me in my rawest form.
Writing is freeing.

I freewrite. An example:
Jane couldn't breathe. Any sound would mean her death. The crunch of leaves under the hitman's boots confirmed her fears. [And for some reason, my brain has just taken a vacation, come on synapses fire. Crap, maybe I should have gone for a cup of coffee. Ahh...caffeine...] An explosion of leaves burst from the canopy overhead. The hitman paused, Jane assumed he was waiting for things to quiet down or for her to do something foolish, like run. Soon the forest quieted. The only thing that could be heard was the hitman's breathing. A sudden crack shattered the silence, followed by the thud of a body hitting the ground.
I find that when I let my brain float through the air pockets, I'm guided back to the story. Meaningless mental chatter dies down. I find when I fight it, my brain gets stubborn. I let it loose, my brain refocuses.
