Evelyn Cullet Inspiration can come from anywhere, an overheard conversation, a newspaper story or from everyday experiences. For my novel, Masterpiece of Murder, I got the inspiration for the setting when I was taking art classes. One of the more advanced students had gone to Bariloche, Argentina to take a master class art. When I saw photos of Argentina the student had passed around the class, I thought that the isolation and the beauty of the area would make a great setting for a mystery. And as it turned out, it did.
Evelyn Cullet The advice I would give an aspiring writer is to get a good editor. Working with an editor can take your characters and your plot from just okay to great.
Evelyn Cullet I got the idea or my most recent novel, Once Upon a Crime, from my daughter. We were at the Mineral and Gem show we attend every year, and she said I should write a novel that involved stolen gemstones.
