What a great question! My favorite fictional couple is Theodore Laurence and Jo March from Louisa May Alcott's book, Little Women. "Laurie" and Jo are not a romantic couple; they are best friends. The are brutally honest and respect each other's gifts.

As a writer, I'm tremendously grateful when someone shares how something I've written or suggestions I've offered have transformed their lives. Sometimes writing can feel like shouting into a tin can - you're never quite sure about your impact until someone shares it with you. That's why it's so important to be authentic and transparent - all of the time.

I am often inspired by conversations I hear during breakout sessions during presentations and questions from participants. I am a natural problem-solver, so I quickly jot those questions down and respond to them in blog posts, articles, and motivational speeches. These issues also become inspiration for future books.

I encourage aspiring writers to write and post a weekly blog. Regular blogging sharpens your writing skills. It also establishes you as a thought leader in your area of expertise. Those that follow your blog become a captive audience when you're ready to release your first book. More importantly, engage with others on social media. Avoid self-promotion; work on building authentic relationships with others - those with whom you share common interests and passions.

I am working on a book study leader's guide to accompany my goal-setting workbook, Dreams to Action Trailblazer's Guide. I will also release a student edition in 2015.

Personal challenges provide deep resources for books. My goal-setting workbook, Dreams to Action Trailblazer's Guide, is the result of my efforts to transform organizational planning strategies into a personal experience. Many of the books written by successful individuals were autobiographies about their success. I lost my job in 2011; I needed a book to show me how I could experience success. I couldn't find one, so I wrote one. My journey helped me create tools that empower others.

It's been said, "The road to hell is paved with works in progress." Writer's block is that terrible place filled with good intentions and nothing more to say. Establish a regular writing practice routine. I write my weekly blog on Sunday and post it on Monday. I send out my newsletter, Dreams to Action Weekly, on Thursdays. I engage with others via social media. Journal. Make a list. Do something. Mark it on your calendar - even if it's a 10 min. daily writing routine. Find a writing accountability partner and commit to a weekly goal.

Challenges open doors of opportunities. I showed organizations how to define their purpose and align their goals with their mission and values for many years. My goal-setting workbook, Dreams to Action Trailblazer's Guide, empowers others with tools to transform a passion into an action plan with tangible goals.
