I'm an aspiring writer, but I'm dealing with two things: I get discouraged every single day because 96% of manuscripts are rejected, and I haven't had an idea for years, literally. There's too many people wanting to be writers, and knowing there's so much competition just kills me a little every day. When I get motivated, immediatly something appears about the industry that kills it. Any tips on how to deal with this?

One of the things that helped me was surrounding myself with friends who are also writers. We made goals together, became accountable for those goals and cheered one another on when needed (and still do). I met a lot of people through the romance community and then through Romance Writers of America (RWA). The support network is immense and inspiring. If you have the means to do so, look for like-minded folks through groups, etc.

That's not to say everything will be peachy after that. The things we want most have a way of challenging us at times. And I'm not going to lie, publishing is a discouraging business but if being a writer is something you dream of doing, never give up. Wishing you great luck in the years to come.

Who is your favorite fictional couple, and why?

Tiffany Clare There are so many! But Lisa Kleypas' Dreaming of You - Derek and Sara made me fall head over heels for their story! Derek is your brooding dark hero but only really shows his emotions around Sara. Just thinking of their story makes me sigh and want to read that book again.
