Hi Susan
I do. I am currently working in Nantong shipyard in China and recently visited the Nanjing Massacre Museum - a very moving experience. I am working on the story structure at the moment. Let me know if you would like an advanced copy, once I have cobbled a draft together.

(view spoiler)[I loved your novel “Mija,” it was lovely. I could feel her pain and was truly blessed by her respect for her parents and her elders. Her father was a magnificent father, unselfish and loving. Her mother was every child’s nightmare! Cruel, unloving, and very cold and selfish. I loved that the children were much more like their father, this was the children’s saving grace. What initated your interest in Korea? (hide spoiler)]

Hi Susan
Thank you for your question.
I worked in South Korean Shipyards for over ten years and met my wife there. She used to tell after-dinner tales about her mother's experience growing up in Korea and people suggested I should make it into a book. It's very loosely based on a true story with a lot of poetic license added for dramatic effect. I had to learn to write first so I hope I did it justice and I am so pleased you enjoyed it.

It's based on a true story. My wife used to tell after-dinner stories about her mother's life growing up in Japanese occupied Korea. People used to remark, "You should be writing this down," so I knew I had a good story. It was then a question of making my writing vivid enough to do the story justice.

Make sure you have a strong story before starting. Plan on writing the book three times. Engage your reader. Be very self-critical. Seek professional editing and cover design. It's hard work.

Freedom to do whatever you want. Connecting with your reader, especially when they visualise the scene exactly as you intended it. Providing entertainment and moving your readers emotionally.

This wasn't a problem because I like to set the structure of the book first by providing a roadmap with chapter headings. The first draft will be below par anyway so you should push on and edit extensively later.
