Write. A lot. Understand that the first thing you write might not be the thing that gets published but it might help you get closer. Get LOTS of feedback. Accept the feedback. Work on the feedback. Try again. Join writer groups. Try again. It's not magic. It's hard work. It's not luck. It's putting yourself in a position to succeed. And then trying again.

I was at my son's Little League game and a mother from another team called one of our players an "a**hole". Yelled it out from the stands! He was 10 years old. I won't say that it made me murderous, but it did make me start thinking about all the crazy things people in Buckhead, in Atlanta, did and all the crazy things they were possible of doing.
