Robert Laird Generally, I spend a few years thinking about what I've got, and wonder where the rest will come from, and then when it finally resolves itself, then I continue writing the story. In the meantime, I start other stories that aren't "blocked."
Robert Laird The cave diving portion of the story comes naturally, since I have been cave diving since 1994. We also, on occasion, have spent time walking through the woods looking for old sinkholes. The idea that one of these sinkholes used to be open, and finding one that might be currently unknown, is kind of a dream-come-true to a cave diver. So, imagining I was on a dive and found a previously unknown tunnel that lead to a previously unknown sinkhole was quite an exciting idea. What if, I thought, I came up through the sinkhole, and wasn't _where_ I thought I would be at all? Or.... _when_ I thought it would be.
