It's sitting alone in a dark room, making up imaginary people and inventing stories, and influencing people's lives with those inventions.

I keep going on the same page - I just change font or color, and I start writing about not being able to write, about being stuck.
It usually passes in a few minutes.
Also, I jump from one project to another - when I'm stuck on story A, I can get to work on story B.
Davide Mana I normally envision what I am about to write as a scene from a movie running in my head. Then I put on the page what I saw in my mind-movie.
Listening to music and practicing some meditation helps getting the words in motion.

Davide Mana Read a lot, both genre fiction and mainstream, both new and classics, both fiction and non-fiction. Be curious, and don't be afraid of weird ideas.
Davide Mana As usual, I'm working on a number of projects.
A historical fantasy book (hopefully, the first in a series).
Two adventure thriller novellas (part of the same series).
A few short stories.
I'm keeping busy.
Davide Mana The idea for the book I'm currently writing (tentatively called "A Desperate Fortune") came to me during a bout of insomnia - I was awake through a thunderstorm, and I started thinking about the clouds chasing each other through the sky as the wind howled and thunder cracked... I suddenly felt like writing a story about pirates riding through storms and all that.
By next morning, I was outlining the first chapters.
