I write children's books and love mysteries and detective stories. My longtime favorite author is Robert B. Parker so I would have to say that Spencer, the rough and tough PI in the series of the same name and his beautiful and sophisticated girlfriend, Susan. The contrast in their personalities and lifestyles seems magical. Also R.B Parkers' children's books staring he and his wife in stories taken from their childhood together are wonderful examples of an actual couple. I miss him since he died and find I cannot read the current Spencer series.

Enjoy the process of writing. Your characters may surprise you. Chuckle at their antics, share their fear, and let them take you places you have never been before!
I would love to hear what your writing experiences have been.

Most of my books are set in familiar places. Ancient Tombs and Spells came from a prompt from a fellow writer. but it had nothing to do with cats, or Egypt. It took off on it's own and the playful cats led me on a mystical journey. I learned a lot about Egypt and cats in the process as I researched both.

Do something entirely different, watch a movie, take a walk, work in the yard, go for coffee. Just get away and let my mind find it's way back.

You don't acknowledge it. You just keep writing, even if that means writing about what you want to write about. LOL

The freedom to create and work on your own. Often I find the characters I create take on lives of their own and I find delight in what they choose to do.

Moving to CA took me away from my grandkids in MN, so writing using their pug dog Charlotte as a hero kept me in touch with them.
