What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

Jürgen Ehlers The missing sister. From one of the letters left behind by my parents I learnt that there had been a half-sister. Jutta was about the same age as me, but nobody had ever mentioned her. I must have met her. Same age, same village, same school. But so many years had passed, and there were no relatives left to ask. And the girls from my class? I knew the names. But they were of no use. Probably the girls were all married by now ...

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Jürgen Ehlers When walking through a little known small park in Hamburg, I realized that it would be an ideal place for a murder.

What are you currently working on?

Jürgen Ehlers The follow-up volume for "Die Hyäne von Hamburg" is scheduled for March 2017 (the Leipzig Book Fair). Apart from that, there are other projects. One thriller of the Mark Asmussen series and - perhaps - a historical novel.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Jürgen Ehlers Write. Submit your manuscript. Don't be too disappointed if it is rejected. Just keep on writing. Learn from other good writers. Learn from other bad writers - learn from their mistakes. And never give up.
