Sandra (Lott) Smith I am currently reading You can, You will by Joel Osteen and just finished Break out, by him as well.
Sandra (Lott) Smith The only mystery in my life I can think of that could be a plot for a book, is how I have made it through all the painful events in my life and still have peace and joy. I have lost my youngest son at the age of 16, and both of my parents with in a few years of my son's death. Two months after my father's death, my husband (alcoholic) calls me and says that he is leaving. Then there is the on again off again constant emotional issues that plague my oldest son. How have I made it through? Only by the grace and love of God. He has and continually today, heals my heart and gives me purpose.
Sandra (Lott) Smith My favorite fictional couple is Lucy and Ricky Ricardo from I Love Lucy for no special reason other than the fact that they make me laugh. Everyone needs a little laughter in their life!
Sandra (Lott) Smith The book I am currently working on Ride the Wind came to me as all of them do, the title comes to me and when it does so does the theme of what it will be about and as I begin to work on each book they grow from there. It is sort of like, putting your feet in the water and letting it part; faith. Just like the Israelites crossing the Jordan River on the way to the Promised Land. They had to put their feet in the water first before it would part.
Sandra (Lott) Smith I was first inspired to write by the Lord. In high school growing up I excelled in Creative Writing. So I guess the desire was there it just got buried through life issues. It was not until I received Jesus as Lord and Savior that I began writing. I started writing poetry and then one day in my devotion time the name of my first book just dropped into my spirit, God's Love. I had not had a desire to write a book before nor did I know where to begin but I just knew that was the title of a book and so it began. I now have 8 books published currently and one children's book in the works and five more waiting. God is good!
Sandra (Lott) Smith It is July 2014 and I am currently working on a work of fiction. It is a story about a girl who was abused by her father and her husband and has extreme trust issues. Not to mention low self-esteem. She discovers the love of God and it heals her broken spirit and heart. It is called Ride the Wind.
Sandra (Lott) Smith My advice for aspiring writers is to find what you are passionate about and insert that into your writing. Then it will be a complete joy to follow through. Also, you need to take your time and re-read your work and edit it, then have someone else edit it. You always find errors that you missed the first time. You also need to do your homework and do some research about things within your story that may have some real facts behind it. Take the time to get the facts even if it is a work of fiction. Readers will know truth when they see and it will make your story more believable.
Sandra (Lott) Smith I am a Christian author and I write to glorify God and to help people understand the love of God. I have been through some tragic times and in searching for the love of God myself, a love that was always there I just needed to believe it, and finding it, I could not help but want to pass it on. The best thing about being a writer to me is when something I wrote touched someone's heart and lifted their spirits. When that happens I truly feel like a success.
Sandra (Lott) Smith When I reach a point in working on a current writing project and I get blocked I usually walk away from it and work on something else. I find when I am try too hard it usually does not work out. When I walk away from it and pray about it and then come back with a fresh new outlook at the Lord's leading, the inspiration returns.
