Karen Cecil Smith I don't get anxious about writer's block. I know that if I keep writing, if only one sentence a day, my muse will eventually appear. Taking my dog for a long walk helps, too.
Karen Cecil Smith Hearing from readers who enjoy my work.
Karen Cecil Smith Develop your own style and, while reading the work of others is important, don't ever try to write like someone else. Believe in yourself. Also, be able to take constructive criticism. Write, rewrite, rewrite, edit, edit, edit.

Karen Cecil Smith It doesn't take much to inspire me. There's always an idea floating around in my mind. Also, I like to quietly listen and observe people, animals and nature; inspiration is all around me.
Karen Cecil Smith My most recently completed manuscript is "An Old Salem Easter, 1850." The idea for this book came from my association with and love of the historical village of Old Salem which is located in North Carolina. If anyone has ever attended the annual Easter Sunrise Service in Old Salem, they know how inspirational and uplifting it can be.
