Tsh Oxenreider As though there's an i! So, like Tish.
Tsh Oxenreider If I waited until I was perfectly inspired, I'd never write. I'm a mom of three kids under age 12, and I work from home. Real life happens all around me. I've made it a habit to write daily, first thing in the morning, before all the stuff of life happens, and when I'm needed the least. This is my time to get out whatever's rattling around in my brain—sometimes it's good, sometimes not so much. But I just write. And I find that, like physical exericse, once I start going, it feels good to keep going. Getting out the front door is the hardest part. I wish I had a sexier answer... maybe I will when I'm an empty nester.
Tsh Oxenreider My next book that releases April 2017, At Home in the World, is a travel memoir about my family's recent trip around the world. We spent a school year moving westward around the globe, starting in China and last touching ground in Iceland before returning home to the United States. I spent a lot of that time in introspection, thinking about the seemingly-simple word, home. Having lived in different parts of the world for most of my adult life, the benign question, "So, where's home for you?" becomes heavy when you feel at home both everywhere and nowhere. So, I used the setting of our trip—literally, the world—to unpack the idea of what it means to pick a spot on the globe and call it home. Can anywhere be home? I think so. But can you feel at home anywhere? Maybe... but it's not always easy.
