Katie returned home for her dad’s funeral. The last time she saw her dad was when she and her mother left him. That was years ago. Even though she was only a little girl then, the ranch seemed much bigger. A large number of purebred Hereford cattle used to graze his pasture, but the only cattle which remain are a few thin crossbreds. She knew her dad had been sick for several weeks, but he was never hospitalized. He did not have any big medical bills, so what happened to her dad’s ranch and purebred cattle? Who benefited from his death?

My favorite fictional couple is Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice, a novel by Jane Austen. I like the rich dialogue between them as they mature and the relationship develops.

Follow your heart, and write about the subjects for which you are passionate. Continually, be about writing in your mind, on paper or on a computer. Be satisfied with any progress, though it be small. Do not rush the process. Let things develop naturally. I wrote a draft of my first book and put it aside for several years before finishing it. The final version was far superior to the first draft. It is better to write one thing well than to attempt many things and leave them undone.

I walk away from my desk to get fresh insight. While searching through my mind for the best word to use, I may sit in my easy chair and relax. If I am waiting for the next inspiring thought, I may go for a walk in the woods and pray. If I am wrestling with understanding a concept, I may go for a day trip with my wife so we can talk about it together.

Discovering the end of a matter is the best thing about writing. I am continually learning, and I learn about a subject in order to write about it. Before writing about the subject I may think I know something, but that understanding is not very deep. Only through writing about the subject and explaining it in detail do I truly understand it.

My inspiration for writing comes from revelation by the Holy Spirit and personal experiences. I spend a lot of time praying and walking in the woods communing with the Lord, asking for insight on the subjects I am writing. I always want to share personal stories about the principles I am teaching.

To help celebrate our 50th anniversary, Sherry and I wrote a new book on the things we learned about marriage. It was a miracle to stay happily married for 50 years. By the grace of God we learned a lot about marriage which no one ever taught us. Even the things we were taught were wrong. We wanted to help others improve their marriage, so we shared a lot of intimate things about ours.

If it had not been for the guidance of the Holy Spirit, my wife and daughter would be dead today. But he showed us a more excellent way of loving and living. A few months ago, I taught young ministers in Mexico about the work of the Holy Spirit. This is an important subject for anyone wanting a deeper understanding of the supernatural realm. The book I am currently writing explains our revelation about life that touches the supernatural realm with guidance by the Holy Spirit.
