Richard Godwin Something new and entirely different. Something Revolutionary.
Richard Godwin Life, other writers, Art, the great Artists, and writers, music, overheard conversations in pubs and restaurants, echoing galleries, dreams, ideas merging like snowflakes merging in an ice storm thawed by a rising sun, shopping malls, women, the newspapers, media, architecture, sport, travel, history, movies, all the things you see. As Tom Waits sings, 'I've seen it all through the yellow windows of the evening train.'
Richard Godwin Insincerity emerged from a fusion of ideas, firstly the fact that London, as a thriving metropolis, is packed with people leading double lives, secondly, the idea of a Lover saving a woman from a killer and inspiring that woman, whose marriage has eroded her self-esteem, to believe in herself because of the pleasure and sexual appreciation he gives to her. It is in one way a love story, and a passionate one, in another a horror story, with a literary pulse pounding out the heartbeat of Jekyll and Hyde. The juxtaposition and synthesis of the two creates an interesting fusion of pleasure and fear, psychopathology and eroticism, a sweating, at times, breathless cauldron of temptation and sin, danger and sexual tension throughout, and yes, those double lives and why people lead them.
