Danell Jones Thanks for the great question. Sorry it has taken me so long to answer. I was just finishing my latest book: An African in Imperial London: The Indomitable Life of A.B.C. Merriman-Labor.
Merriman-Labor is a forgotten pioneer of African literature, and the hardest thing about writing his biography was not knowing how the story would end! When I began my research little was known about his life. It has been a joy and a challenge to do this work. What about you? What is the hardest thing about writing for you?
Danell Jones Writer's block comes, I think, when you stop thinking about the joy of writing and start focusing on fame, success, money, or what others will think of your work.
Write because you love to write.
Danell Jones Finding or organizing a writing group can be one of the best things you can do. I meet with my group every other week. Knowing that your group will be expecting to see work from you every 14 days is a great way to stay on track with a project.
