Tom Atkinson I plucked it out of nowhere. I was waiting for a train and it just kind of came to me. There was nothing that sparked it, just a new, fresh but raw idea. Over time, the story changed and evolved into what it became but there was no real inspiration for 'When the Eagle Rules in the Place of the Yew Trees' (WERPOYT).
Tom Atkinson Randomly, usually. I'll just see something or hear something that inspires a story to come to mind and that'll be it. Sometimes there won't even be a stimulus and an idea will come to be spontaneously. When that idea is in my mind, it won't leave until I have put it to paper.
Tom Atkinson Don't be afraid to give it a go. If you want to write, write. Put your all into it and try your hardest. Believe in what you are doing and believe in yourself. It never hurts to give writing a go.
Tom Atkinson Freedom and creativity. As simple as that.
Tom Atkinson Take a minute. Do something that relaxes you, or just take a break for an hour. Then come back to your work and plough on. If the block is still there, sometimes you have to concede defeat. You need to be 100% into what you are doing to reach the standards you want. You need to feel like it in your mind and in your heart and when it all feels right, the words will fall out of you like a waterfall.
