John Lewis Rivera Stop, stop completely what you’re writing. Go outside, or stay indoors. Doesn’t matter which. Just stop. After that is up to you. Personally I play some Donkey Kong Country, pick a random movie I love, listen to some music, run a mile or just look at the skies or the other houses around me.
John Lewis Rivera Meeting amazing people, involving yourself in a space that helps you feel understood. For years I thought my writing sucked bug time, now I’m able to believe more in myself even though that sounds cliche asf
John Lewis Rivera Write like that Scarface mid movie 3min montage and “Push it to the limit”
Just no money laundering, cocaine or any type of organized crime, unless it’s just for your story.

John Lewis Rivera Usually at work, I’ve been jumping around between odd-jobs for a while now, trying to convince myself that I’m 100% sure of what to do with my life. Those jobs tend to involve a lot of human interactions (which tbh is hard for an introvert). I’ve worked retail, as a teacher, caregiver (seniors and mentally disabled) data analyst and even worked at an amusement park.
John Lewis Rivera I started working on a poetry book that expressed a feeling of incompleteness, almost 2 years after I started working on it I lost my hard drive and everything in it, including said manuscript. After a 2 month hiatus I found an early version in a cloud and decided to give it a go one more time. While working on this version I was watching way more movies than usual, there I realized the theme should relate more to movies that I love and find interesting.
