(view spoiler)[Joseph, I truly admire the way you weave suspense and humor together, it’s rare to see that kind of balance done so naturally. Especially for how you build tension without losing character depth. Your pacing always keeps readers hooked from the first page. I’d love to ask, when you write thrillers, which comes first for you: the plot twist or the character’s emotional journey? (hide spoiler)]

It could go either way. If you open one story after another in the same fashion, the reader is going to get bored. He or she will think the writer just does the same thing over and over. I keep my eyes open to true story developments, but I don't copy other people’s stories. I think a true story can send you in a new direction. You can change the protagonist from male to female. You can do the opposite as well if you like. Your decision might be dictated by which gender grabs you emotionally. As to story lines, pay attention to reality as provided by newspapers, TV stories, or what you hear from your neighbor over the backyard fence. Listen to all that stuff and then ask yourself: Wouldn't it be cool to twist reality into make believe.
