Eric D. Brotman The idea hit me when I attended a college reunion and realized that the seniors graduating were not just ENDING a chapter of their lives, but also BEGINNING one. I felt a sense of jealousy that as adults we don't often get the chance to reinvent ourselves, and I decided to change that for myself, for our firm's clients, and for the general public. "Don't Retire...Graduate!" started as a podcast and has become books, workbooks, online courses, and a message that is unique and resonates with people.
Eric D. Brotman I'm fortunate in that I'm inspired to write all of the time. My challenge is being able to take the time to concentrate on large writing projects.

I think developing a podcast or other forum to do live Q&A with people about personal finance would be amazing, so I'm shifting my focus a bit from the written word to the spoken one at present. It allows me to communicate and educate without needing days on end in front of my keyboard.
Eric D. Brotman I'm working on a financial wellness program for employers to help their employees reduce stress through financial education and advice. I think everyone deserves the ability to get solid advice and hope our model will help reach a broad audience.

I'm also doing everything possible to grow the "Don't Retire...Graduate!" brand and to help people rethink retirement as an advancement to a meaningful chapter of their lives rather than a retreat.
Eric D. Brotman Two things:
1) Don't wait. When inspiration hits, start building an outline and roll up your sleeves.
2) Don't ever try to write at home or at your office. Be in a location as free from distraction as possible and take enough time to write when you don't have competing priorities. Focus makes a huge difference!
Eric D. Brotman The best thing about being a writer is hearing from readers who have been able to use my book to enhance their financial lives. Helping as many families as possible discover financial literacy and start off on their own journeys toward financial independence is incredibly gratifying.
Eric D. Brotman Great question!! When I get writer's block, I usually take a long walk outside - preferably on a beach. Something about that clears my mind like a walking meditation, and when I get back refreshed, I'm usually able to start writing again.
Eric D. Brotman The flashlight slipped from my hands and into the cavern below, leaving me in total darkness. I never heard it hit solid ground.
Eric D. Brotman I would travel to Middle Earth and pontificate from Rivendell.
