Barry Clay Write. Ask for advice. Have someone proof your work. I am constantly embarrassed at -- no matter how many times I proof my work -- I find something else I missed upon a re-read. Once, after a year in print, I noticed the title of my first book was misspelled. Oops.

But my best advice? Don't assume you will become rich and famous. If you are writing for that reason -- well -- fame is fleeting. Money is useful, but if it were enough, rich people would be happy and Jeff Bezos wouldn't now be divorced. Write for pleasure. If riches and fame come, that's just a bonus.
Barry Clay Inspiration is something we all want. I think inspiration comes from God. I explain in my first book "Solid Ground", which is Christian theology for the layman, precisely why I wrote it. My pastor of many years said at one point that I was going to write a book. He was correct. And now I've written nine, fiction and non-fiction!
Barry Clay It keeps me off the streets and provides a creative outlet I don't have in my vocation.
