Nancy Thayer I rarely have writers block, but if I do, I go for a walk. It amazes me how many ideas I have when I walk for 30 minutes around town and I often have to stop and use my phone to send myself an email with the ideas. I think they’re really is a connection between walking and creating.
Nancy Thayer I am sorry, I am not certain that there will be a sequel, but maybe in a few years. I’d love to have some of my Nantucket characters from other books get together in a new book and I’ll be keeping notes on that. Thanks for asking.!
Nancy Thayer Mary Kay Andrews, Summer at the Saint
RayAnne Thayer, 15 summers later
Rhys Bowen, the Paris assignment
Jamie Brenner, a novel summer
Annabelle Monagan, same time next summer
Hannah McKinnon, Mystic, Summer
Nancy Thayer I love reading mysteries, especially the detective and cozy kind. I’m afraid my life hasn’t given me any action mysteries but the more philosophical kind. I don’t know why I was so introverted in my 20s but I have to admit I loved reading all the books I read then.
Nancy Thayer It's all the best! Hearing from readers is right at the top and working in my robe is right up there, too. If I've touched a heart or made someone feel less alone, that's wonderful for me.
Nancy Thayer I hurried into the kitchen. I couldn't find any chocolate.
Nancy Thayer Be persistent! Join a workshop where the writers/readers will not worry about hurting your feelings. Be ready to change even the sentence you love most.
Nancy Thayer I just finished proofing the pages of ALL THE DAYS OF SUMMER which will come out May 3. It's about family and Nantucket, and where we belong. I'm always astounded when I find a typo that I missed all the times I checked before! This book has the most beautiful cover, I think.
Nancy Thayer I have wanted to write since I was eleven. I wrote for years without selling a book, and I was over the moon when Doubleday bought my book so long ago in 1980! People are endlessly fascinating. I love trying to figure out human relationships. I'm always talking to characters in my head, working on a new novel.
Nancy Thayer My book are always about family so I'm always talking with friends and family and grown children about the problems and delights of connection. I think the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law connection is so interesting. My mother-in-law certainly was!
