Michael McCloskey Other than in-flight projects, the 33 on Amazon is all I have.

I've temporarily paused writing after I wrote the 20th PIT novel until I retire from software in 1-3 years, as my coding job takes all available brainpower.

I'm 55 and in good health. That was just my cynicism showing.

Thanks for asking, and thanks for reading me.

Michael McCloskey The series is not profitable enough to support an audiobook, and besides, I don't use DRM, so anyone who buys can get the books on, for example, Smashwords in text format and have their favorite TTS software read it for them.
Michael McCloskey I'd love to continue Archon Than but almost no one bought that book.

The House of Yeel was so much fun to write and I planned a sequel, but once again, compared to my PIT series, the sales were low.

When I retire from my engineering job, I hope to resume writing my fantasy books (as well as keep writing scifi) so I might be able to write more at that time.

Thank you so much for reading my books.
Michael McCloskey I would like to do 100. I expect that death will silence me before I reach that number, though.
Michael McCloskey Thanks for reading! The Celaran Solution is the 9th book, it's about half done. In the meantime if you want something to read, The Created is set in the same universe as the PIT series so I recommend that one.

Michael McCloskey Thanks for reading my books.

Names don't translate between radically different languages unless they are based upon literals ("fast runner" or something like that).

In order to reflect that the names don't translate, to really bring forward the alien-ness of Shiny, and to differentiate his point of view, there are two sets of names: those coined by the Terrans, and those used in occasional chapters from Shiny's POV.

To Shiny, his name is Kirizzo and his home planet is Gorgala, and the aquatic aliens who hunted him are the Bel Klaven.

To Terrans, he is of course called Shiny, his home planet is called Vovok, and the aquatic aliens are the Quarus.

Of course, I'm only Terran, and I probably slipped these up somewhere among the 8 books I've written so far.

There are only a few hints given about the Quarus until late in the series, and they are often referred to as the Destroyers, the name given to their war machines.

Michael McCloskey Crowdsourcing it is an interesting idea. I'm both skeptical and intrigued so I guess I need to mull it over for a while. I'm not quite ready to give up on it myself. The story arc need not be much more than "here is how everything was manipulated from the moment the AI went online to the end that you thought just occurred by happenstance". Like how Aldriena turned left at that certain corridor because it made the left a bit darker and warmer than the right because the AI knew her personality was such that she feels safer in the dark. In similar ways it guided all the events in the trilogy.
Michael McCloskey I have a skeleton of a book "Influxious" which is the story from Meridian's point of view. It's a tall order, though I have some cool ideas for it. I did not finish it because 1. too much repetition already from the first three and 2. very hard to write about something way smarter than yourself.

I think that trilogy is my best stuff, I'm kind of afraid of ruining it, actually :)

If I have another decade of life left I may shoot for another trilogy in that story line.

I take it you would rather read a serial trilogy rather than a concurrent one, based upon your comments on the first trilogy.

Thanks very much for reading and reviewing.
Michael McCloskey The sixth book in the PIT series, called "The Celaran Ruins" and another Mitris novel called "The Dreamslayer".
Michael McCloskey I work on more than one project at at time, so if I don't feel like writing on one book I choose another.
Michael McCloskey Write every day, rain or shine. Whenever affordable, work with professional illustrators and editors.
