Kathy Cuddihy After finishing my first novel, I wondered what to write about next. My house has a lot of artwork. I was staring at one of the paintings and decided it would be about art. Then I remembered a story about a great aunt to had a famous picture stolen by her insurance agent. Her house burned and she died in the fire. All those ideas came together and formed the kernel of the idea for the novel.
Kathy Cuddihy I don't normally get writer's block, perhaps because I usually have a couple of projects on the go at once. If I feel myself slowing down on one, I immediately do something else and come back to the original project with a fresh eye.
Kathy Cuddihy Apply bum to the seat of a chair and write! Talking/thinking about writing doesn't hone your skill. You need to write. Every day, if possible, even if it's only a couple of paragraphs. Joining a writing group is also useful. Feedback from others helps you get rid of bad habits.
Kathy Cuddihy I'm currently working on two novels. One is complete and looking for a home with an agent; the other is about ⅓ complete.
