My summer reading list include several books by Jennifer Beckstrand... Return to Huckleberry Hill, Amish Brides (with Molly Jebber and Amy Lillard), and the Forever After in Apple Lake series. Also Sewn With Joy (by Tricia Goyer and Sherry Gore), A Mother For Leah (by Rachel L. Miller), Upon a Spring Breeze (by Kelly Irvin), Abiding Mercy (by Ruth Reid), and The Amish Wanderer (by Laura V. Hilton).

That's a great question, Melanie. Each book can be read as a stand alone, but of course, I think they'll be more enjoyable if read in order.

Honestly, I had finished an Amish Suspense novel, when I felt that God wanted me to write some light-hearted, fun mysteries - cozy mysteries.
And that's where I am right now...

I've written for most of my life. It's just something I loved doing. But it helps to have family and friends who are encouraging, supportive, and willing to help out.

Don't stop writing! Never quit!
I wrote for years, with no intention of ever letting anyone else read my work. Now that I'm pre-published, I'm glad I never quit.
Writing... Music... Art... If it's important to you, Just Do It!

The best thing about being a writer -- is writing down stories, feelings, ideas... It's a great feeling to put my thoughts down on paper.
The next best thing is when I get a note (or email) from someone telling me how much they loved reading my story!

If I'm having trouble getting the words down on paper, I take a break from writing. Instead, I'll search out some needed research. Many times that means visiting the local public library or contacting an Amish friend.
Sometimes it's because I'm exhausted. I've been known to take a nap. Another great way is to get outside to take a walk. Once I get back home, I'm usually ready to write. Or when there's bad weather, I climb on my exercise bike and pedal for a few miles.
If nothing else is working, I go back to how I got started... I pray.
