How do you get inspired to write?
Julian Shaw I am inspired to write when I meet (or just overhear) a character in real life who I have never encountered before.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Julian Shaw When I started 'The Rains Came Down' I was working as a firefighter in London. Witnessing some truly awful human tragedies I found myself retreating into my imagination to cope with what I saw (I have never been one to agree with, or partake in, 'gallows humour'). From these imaginations was born 'The Meadow' - the parallel universe in my novel.
