Kate Francis The best thing about being a writer is seeking the characters really "become" people as you write about them. All of a sudden, they have personalities and character traits and crazy habits. It's like getting to know them! In Double Image, Kenna (the female lead) changed a lot from the first draft through the final edits. By the end, I almost felt as though I could watch and know how she would behave or react to something.
Kate Francis I spent most of my career working in government, so the idea of writing a book that involved some of the people and places in New Jersey kept dancing through my head. It provided the setting for an idea that was bouncing around my head about a young single mother involved in a kidnapping.
Kate Francis My favorite fictional couple is Eve Dallas and Roarke from J.D. Robb's In Death series. You just have to love them. Eve is so basic, honest, brave and determined, and Roarke is a sophisticated man with the heart of a holy terror. They are both wounded in a way that might preclude love, yet they found love with each other. Who doesn't wanted to be cared for the way these two care for each other?
