Hi Michael, I'm really sorry I didn't see this sooner! I had no idea someone had asked me something. Not sure this matters anymore but I'll answer anyway.
First of all, thank you for liking my book! I did pay for an editor for that one but I had the funds then so I would say if you don't have the money, self edit as much as possible then get critique partners and beta readers to read it through. Not the best but you have to work within your budget.
As for getting your book out there - I don't think I'm the best person to ask! Back then I contacted book bloggers to ask for an honest review. The best advice I can give for that part is follow some writers like Mark Dawson, the Creative Penn or Heart Breathings. They all give good advice for newbie writers even if you don't write in their genre the advice is still valid.
