How do you deal with writer’s block?

J. Stanion Sometimes you have to take a break. For me, it has to be quiet. A little Air BnB in the country with a screened in porch and a glass of wine is always nice, but a walk to the barn with my dogs, a few minutes watching the ducks hunt for insects behind the barn or watching one of the barn cats take a leisurely stroll along the top board of my round pen work as well. The best is the sound of rain hammering on the metal roof while I sit underneath listening to the horses munch hay.....those are all inspirational.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

J. Stanion "My Place Among Them" is based on a manuscript written by my great-grandfather.

How do you get inspired to write?

J. Stanion A quiet morning at the barn..it's especially nice if I can watch the sun rise. OR a glass of wine, a quiet evening in the mountains and a colorful pen to jot down ideas.

What are you currently working on?

J. Stanion A sequel to My Place Among Them that focuses on the years leading up to Prohibition, the roaring 20's and life for Indigenous people through the government's New Deal.
