The idea for my last book, Letters From Hollywood (Abrams Books) came when a friend found a letter my father Jennings Lang (Producer of many films including Earthquake) had written in the late 1930s as a young man to a famous literary agent, H.N. Swanson asking for a job. That was what gave me the idea for that book that contains over 130 letters form Hollywood's icons.

There was a book I read a long time ago called Writing Down the Bones...by Natalie Goldberg - basically, just sit down and let the ideas out. You can shape them later.

For me, the best thing about being a writer is the opportunity to immerse myself in different worlds and be constantly learning. With nonfiction, research is the fun part, and with fiction creating people and situations out of nothing is a challenge but incredibly rewarding.
