In addition to making a 2019 resolution to write a poem a day, my latest long-term projects are to (A) write poetry for every holiday and event of the year for a collection book, and (B) to write poetry reflecting the chapters and books of the Holy Bible (written poetically, sometimes about current topics, and not religiously).

Since I started writing a poem a day (it was a 2019 resolution), that is a good question. I look for phrases I see in places (the newspaper, another book review, a line from poetry open mic readings), and I write that phrase down, so I can keep the idea on file for future use. Also, since my latest long-term projects are to (A) write poetry for every holiday and event of the year for a collection book, and (B) to write poetry reflecting the chapters and books of the Holy Bible, I look for things that relate to holidays (or relate to interpretations of chapters of the Bible) for future writing.
