Criticism is almost never a comment on your character. It took me a long time to learn to take feedback and apply it to my work and not to my value or the value of the time I put into it. Some people may be just plain mean when you put yourself out there, but some criticism is genuine and its okay to take it, consider it, and decide if you agree or disagree. Can you apply it and become better? Bask in feeling like the dumbest person in the room sometimes, and learn from those around you.

I always like to have multiple things going at a time so the answer is a little complicated. Right now, I am in the process of getting my stuff together to do promotion for my novel coming out in February (The Stone Project), and hyping myself up to sprint through my nanowrimo novel this upcoming November (a cozy fantasy romance)!

I'm a big believer in discipline over inspiration. That doesn't always work even for me, but I keep a calendar with personal goals and deadlines that I know are personally doable and I love the feeling when I hit those goals. So when I miss a day, the attitude becomes, "I may have an off-day, but that's okay because my goal is to finish [X] part of a certain project by the end of the month." instead of, "I missed a day and now I am behind and I'll never get into the flow again and everything is bad." Sometimes those feelings still creep in, but they're less pervasive. I guess long answer short, I make color coded calendars :)

I do a lot of POV videos on tik tok (the.taylore) and most of the time my stand alone videos, and even my playlists, aren't ideas that really stick or inspire bigger stories. They're just fun ideas for my viewers and we have a good time giggling and making up stories. The book I am currently writing was spurred on my one of those little playlists where I was only using southern and folk sounds as a joke.
