My most recent book is the story collection This Is Not Happening to You. The stories in it come from a variety of sources and inspirations. Some are from memory plus invention. Some are from stories overheard, then re-configured. Some are from experience. And some are from other stories, other books. I can think of several that started because I was reading something that triggered a recollection, an insight, and I put down what I was reading and started writing.
