(view spoiler)[Hi Maureen! How are you? Yes, of course I remember you! I thought to myself several weeks ago that if I ran into Meg, I'd have to ask her to let you know about my new book, but you beat me to it. I'm so glad you found out about it, and I thank you very much for reading it. The story got really dark going down the home stretch, but I see you got through it. I hope all is well with you in New York state, and I miss our little conversations in the driveway. Thank you for reaching out! :) (hide spoiler)]

Stephen King, without question. No author I've encountered possesses the skill set that he does. I think there was a time earlier in his career when he was untouchable--books like "Christine", "Cujo", "Pet Sematary" and others. The last book of his that I read was "Blaze". I've got a lot of catching up to do!

Never read Kingsolver. What sort of books does she write? I'm always looking to discover great new authors from whom I can learn something.

I have found that what works best for me is to imbibe two cups of strong coffee while standing on my head. Gravity and increased blood pressure work together to force all the ideas into my prefrontal cortex.

I have really only experienced writer's block once in my life. It was like being intellectually impotent. It occurred to me the other day that one of the major drug companies should come up with a "writer's block Viagra." One little blue pill to get the ideas flowing again. Can you say pharmaceutical bestseller?
