Thanks, Kevin. The title is actually 'Crucible of Honour', although I rather dig your title as well! ;) I'm about 2/3 finished with the raw draft, and hope to have a working copy completed before I head to South Africa in three weeks. Yes, I will be embarking on a tour of the Zulu War battlefields. :) The book itself still needs a lot of work, plus I will be having my historian beta-readers give it a going over, like I did with Brutal Valour. It is also a more complicated work, as it is telling both the story of Rorke's Drift, as well as the Siege of Eshowe (which introduces a whole new cast). So to answer your question, I would say mid-May at the earliest. I apologise for any delays, but I'm certain you understand my desire to get this one right.

Finish what you start! I cannot tell you how many aspiring authors have come to me for advice on publishing, etc, only to never bother finishing a single work. It's a shame too, because some of the sample chapters new writers have sent me were actually quite good.
My other advise is, write for yourself, not anyone else. Once you have a completed story, then decide whether or not to share it with the world. But when doing the actual writing, tell the story that you want to read.

I find going on a short holiday, or simply taking a break from writing, will help reset the creative mind. Think of it as taking a break from working out, when one has been over-training.

Being able to share my stories with a large audience. It is extremely difficult to make a living as an independent author; however, I am ever grateful to count myself among the fortunate few who has.

I was first inspired by the film 'Zulu', starring Sir Michael Caine. I feel that the Anglo-Zulu War of 1879 is an important piece of history, both of South Africa and the British Empire. It was time to revisit and introduce it to a new generation.

'Crucible of Honour: Rorke's Drift and the Crisis of Eshowe'. It is the second book in my series about the Anglo-Zulu War.
