I heat water for tea then stare blankly at my computer for a while--maybe read an article or two. When the tea kettle starts screaming, I'm thrilled to have a reason to get up. I come back with my tea and re-read what I've already written. Sometimes the next sentences come to me as a result and other times I keep indulging silly little distractions until they do.

I am currently working on a master's degree. It's a writing-intensive program, which I love. I also have a screenplay swirling around in my mind, so maybe I'll try something completely new when I'm done with school. I have no book ideas at the moment, but that will change. The ideas always show up when I least expect them.
