I wrote The Monkey and the Sock for my uncle's friend, who liked to draw. My uncle thought he ought to be published somewhere, so I took an old idea I got when my brother was trying to say something, but accidentally said, "The Monkey and the Sock" instead, and then when the laughter died down, he said to me, "That would make a great book title. You should write it!" And so as I was trying to think of what to write for my uncle's artist friend, I remembered the title and wrote the entire book in one night.

I sort of am an aspiring writer, but for those who have never written anything before, here's my advice: Never stop writing, and never stop reading, and if you haven't already, try not to get dragged into anime and Netflix too much.

Right now I'm reading Lord of the Rings, and I'd also like to read The Silmarillion and The Hobbit (all by J.R.R. Tolkien, for those of you who don't know). I'm also reading Leave It To Psmith by P.G. Wodehouse and I hope to read The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis and Planet Narnia by Michael Ward. I may not get to all those, or I may read more, but that's the plan for now.

I don't really get writer's block too much, but when I do, it usually means I need to get out of the house and do something else for a bit. So usually I go to our local mall, get some ice cream at Coldstone, watch some people for a bit, visit our local bookstore, window shop at World's Market, and then go home and watch a tv show or play a game until it's time for bed. Then I come back to my work the next day and my writer's block is defeated.

Hearing your friends getting excited about your book and characters in the same way that they get excited about other author's stories.

Right now I'm working on a fantasy about a librarian girl named Asatira who goes on adventures a lot. Gramps takes care of the library while she's away, and Sy is a fairy that "helps" (though she mostly just complains). The story starts when Asatira receives a letter from the queen saying she needs her help saving the world from danger.
