Trent Ruble There is no fictional couple I enjoy more than Raymond and Debra on television's "Everybody Loves Raymond." Their relationship exaggerates the differences between men and women in a very humorous way and, yet, they remain in love. They're great fun.
Trent Ruble Jim, I feel your pain as I had no luck in obtaining an agent. Finally, I submitted the work to a publisher that didn't require an agent. That publisher did what they promised, published my book, but nothing else. No promotion, etc... The good news is that my book has been published without self-publishing, but the bad news is that no one, beyond my small sphere of influence, knows about it. The other bad news is that this publisher's bad reputation made it even more difficult to work with an agent or a mainstream publisher when I tried to submit my second book.

If I had to do it over again, I think I would keep trying to get an agent and then go through a mainstream publisher. I understand that Tom Clancy submitted "The Hunt for Red October" something like 17 times before it was accepted.

Good Luck!
Trent Ruble My advice to an aspiring writer is to be determined. It is very difficult to "break through" to success and one must not give up.
