It all started from my Scottish grandmother's middle name which is Sutherland and I love Charleston, South Carolina. I love murder mystery/crime stories and everything snowballed from there.

My advice is to start writing, to watch YouTube videos on how to do it all, to remember that copy editors, development editors, beta readers and so forth are necessary. They put the polish into a book. Be okay with criticism and rather than take it personally, learn from it, challenge it and see it from their perspective. Mostly though, love what you are doing and be passionate about it.

I step away. Some days you feel more creative than others. I still work full time so only have the weekends to get into writing mode but then with other life stuff clogging up the day, you sometimes don't have the mental capacity to go into your story telling side so it is best to step away or you can become frustrated. Then carve out quiet time so you can edge back into it.

I had a situation once where a man brought my wallet to my apartment door that I had left on the back bumper of my car. It had been there for some time so it was doubtful he would have know which door to knock on. Also, I had just moved there so my address was not yet updated on my license. To this day I think he was an earth Angel!
