I can take my job wherever I go. I love to observe people and places and transcribe them into the written word. I also love to hear others stories and recognize again and again how much we all have in common.

Environment is super important, flowers and an open window are nice if possible, an expectation of solitude and having a great book or 2 on my nightstand that I can't wait to pick up again. Solving the puzzle of a sentence or a paragraph motivates me to keep going.

The idea came to us in two ways. First, we recognized that the first book required cultivating certain characteristics, spiritual and otherwise, that are universal to fostering awareness, connection and meaning. Second, when we shared our stories with others, we inadvertently gave them permission to share their stories with us. The combination became our second book!

I read and read some more, I get unstuck when I absorb the words of beautiful writers. I also get ideas percolating on a walk, out in nature, sometimes listening to instrumental music.

It would have to be set in WWII, a book like The Alice Network or The Nightengale, based on true stories of strong women, Europe, with so much at stake. I would be a journalist, not quite as brave as a british or French spy, but willing to be a witness and write it all down.
