Recognize one out of every two pages you write is trash. Doesn't matter. I force myself through the process at the same time every day, for the same number of hours. If, at the end of that process, I have trash, I throw it away and start again the next day.

Having lived through the publishing wars of the 1980's - larger print houses eating up smaller imprint houses - I have learned if you truly believe in your work, do not give up on it. Secondly, editing can be painful, but is absolutely necessary to produce a work that will cause a reader to turn the page, identify with the characters and believe in what it is you have to say.

Actually, it's a semi-sequel to "Wings of the Fly", following one of the characters from this book. The setting is Santa Cruz Island in the Galapagos, circa 1980. My wife ran a yacht charter service from Santa Cruz in the 1970's and after we married, returned for a six month period. I was foolish enough to bring an electric typewriter, as there were only 4 hours per day of electricity. Nonetheless, "So Simple A Name As Eden" was begun at that time. I am currently working on a final edit.

Too many interesting people with too many interesting stories to tell. After meeting people I digest what they have shared with me and, combined with my international travels, I often find ways to stitch together stories of their lives in locations I am familiar with.

Two sources, the first from my association with the Houston Esoteric Center (now defunct) and an Akashic reading; secondly, an extended trip to South America where I came in contact with indians who spoke of "Las Madres del Sombra", the Mothers of Shadow. This legend triggered the subject matter for Aestrah, especially considering the sad state of women's affairs in the world today.
