Kate Strohm Basically through seeing a need. The first edition of my book was an attempt to help others understand that they needed to 'look out for' the other children in a family that included a child with disability. And the revised edition was an attempt to update and improve on the content.
Kate Strohm It has helped me make contact with people worldwide. In the preface to the revised edition I quote Jonathan Safran Foer who says that when you write a book 'you can enter a conversation with the world' and indeed that is the case. It has been truly wonderful.
Kate Strohm A little activity book for children
Kate Strohm The most recent book is a revised edition of 'Siblings' (Wakefield Press) which was published in Australia in 2002. The US version 'Being the Other One' (Shambhala) was published in 2005 and was very similar to the 2002 version. But since 2002 I had presented many workshops for parents of children with disability or illness and also professionals on how to support siblings. Also through my work with Siblings Australia I had talked with many families and providers. I wanted to update the book using my learnings from that time. The new book also has an e-book version which means it can be accessed anywhere.
