I'm working on a new book right now about a girl who is released from a juvenile prison under a new identity after 7 years behind bars.

I find inspiration all over the place. Newspaper articles often spark an idea for me. And because I work in the movies, films very often trigger ideas, especially documentaries. I wrote a novel that was inspired entirely by a single line spoken by one of the interviewees in a documentary.

I had the opportunity to host the premiere of a documentary at the cinema I run and the subject of the documentary came to speak about her work and the organization she's set up to give severely disabled people access to sex workers. She was such an amazing person, with such energy and passion for what she does, it inspired me to write STUMPED.
