Zibby, my process remains unchanged until the climax, where I pivot and take a different approach. It's always around the climax that this happens. Currently, I'm reading Blank. I look forward to leaving a review. Do you follow any narrative structures for your books, such as the Hero's Journey?

Zibby Owens Hi Alice!! Yes, I have an outline for the whole book before I start.... but then it ends up going in all sorts of different directions!!!!

Zibby Owens Out of frustration!

How do you get inspired to write?
Zibby Owens I just do! It happens like a cough coming on. I feel it percolating and then it gets to the point where it just has to come out.

Zibby Owens Usually your first two novels don't sell so don't take it personally! View them as mandatory practice.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?
Zibby Owens Helping other people feel less alone.

How do you deal with writer’s block?
Zibby Owens I try to brainstorm a list of scenes on the side in a separate document. That tricks me enough to keep going.

Zibby Owens Meant to Be by Emily Giffin. Just finished it today. Loved it!

Can you tell us a two-sentence horror story?
Zibby Owens I write a book. And then it gets permanently deleted on my laptop.

If you could travel to any fictional book world, where would you go and what would you do there?
Zibby Owens I might take a trip to Venice in Christine Mangan's The Palace of the Drowned and sit in the coffee shop people-watching.
