The best thing is the readers. Seeing someone express joy over your writing is the greatest reward. Enjoyment from something you created - it's unreal.

I tend to know when I have a writer's block coming on... a bit like when you know you're going to catch a cold! So I like to pause my writing if I know it's coming, perhaps just for an hour or sometimes a day or two. In the time I'm not writing I like to read a book or watch a movie, helps get those "creative juices" flowing, you could say.
