Jennifer L. Place I'm so glad you enjoyed it! That's music to my ears.

As far as writing any others like it - I'm not sure just yet. I will be working on another book that's more paranormal than this one was and does have different historical settings. Beyond that, I have a few other ideas that are little more than notes at this point but anything is possible!
Jennifer L. Place The best thing about being a writer, which may sound odd, is the control. Every character, every action, is my creation. There are times when writing that a character will wrest the story from my grasp, but ultimately, it is all up to me.

In a life and in a world where so much is out of our control, from traffic to bosses to children to the weather, having one thing where your power is absolute can be very grounding.
Jennifer L. Place Nothing at the moment - I just published Journey's End, my third book, and am taking a bit of a breather before I go back to finish my next work in progress, which is about halfway done and a completely different genre than my other books.
Jennifer L. Place Sometimes, it's as simple as hearing a song, or seeing a new view, or overhearing a conversation. I have notes for different projects that are snippets from someone else speaking, or song lyrics, or a description of something I've seen. There's inspiration everywhere, if you're paying attention.

To sit down to write, I find that music is the most inspiring thing to get me going.
Jennifer L. Place When I'm trying to write and writer's block sets in, I try one of two things:

- I listen to music (if I already am listening to music, I'll try a different band/genre)

- I mark the scene to finish, and try moving on to something else, to go back later.

I try not to force them if they don't want to, and find that moving to a different scene entirely often helps.
Jennifer L. Place My advice for aspiring writers - is to write. The most important thing is to do it and do it often. It may not be perfect, it may be disjointed and terrible in the beginning, but no one is ever fantastic right out of the gate.

The beautiful thing about writing is that you are the god of your own universe. Nothing happens without your say so. And nothing is permanent - you can edit, rewrite, or scrap the whole dang thing and start over.

Tell your stories, one word at a time.
Jennifer L. Place Journey's End, my most recent book, was inspired by the Vanderbilt mansion in Hyde Park, NY. I used to go there with my grandmother when I was young and walk around the gardens. The house and gardens and views are beautiful year round. My grandmother has always been proud of her Irish roots (she's half Irish - a very important half, she would tell me), and I combined these two things together into one story - the house and grounds and my Irish heritage (even though I am only 1/8 Irish).
